Workspaces

The top of the hierarchy — what an organization holds, and how spaces sit inside it.

A workspace — an organization, in Kokar's own terms; the two words mean the same thing here — is the top of the hierarchy. People are invited into it, a plan is bought for it, and everything else belongs to exactly one of them: every space, project, task, doc, chat room and dashboard.

One organization, many companies

Think of the organization as the parent company, and its spaces as what sits underneath — the separate companies you run, the clients you work for, or the departments you are split into.

A space can be private, which makes it invisible to anyone who is not a member of it. That is what lets one organization hold several businesses at once without the people in one seeing the others.

Its address

Every organization has a short URL name — its slug — and it opens every link inside: app.kokar.krd/your-organization/…. It has to be unique across Kokar.

Change it from Settings → General, along with the name and logo. The old address stops working straight away.

Create an organization

Open the switcher

It sits at the top of the sidebar, showing the organization you are currently in.

Choose to create a new one

Give it a name — your company name is usually the right answer.

Confirm the URL

Kokar suggests one from the name. Edit it if you want something shorter; it tells you straight away whether the name is available.

It opens on My Work, and you become its owner.

Switching between organizations

If you belong to more than one, the switcher at the top of the sidebar moves you between them. Nothing crosses the boundary — members, plan, spaces, chat and invoices all belong to one organization only.

What lives at this level

Some things do not sit inside a space at all. They belong to the organization as a whole, and are reached from the sidebar or from Settings:

  • Members and invitations — who is in, and what role they hold
  • Teams — named groups you can assign or mention at once
  • Chat — rooms and direct messages
  • Dashboards — reporting across everything you can see
  • Trash and Archive — recovery for the whole organization
  • Billing — the plan, the seats, and the invoices

Deleting an organization

Only the owner can delete an organization, from Settings → General.

It happens in two stages. The organization becomes unavailable to everyone immediately — nobody can open it any more. The data behind it is left alone for another 30 days, and only then purged for good. The owner gets a confirmation email when deletion is scheduled, and a reminder as the date approaches.

The owner can also tick Delete immediately to skip that window entirely.

Frequently asked questions

Is a workspace the same thing as an organization?

Yes. Kokar uses both words for the same thing — the organization is the tenant everything belongs to, and the workspace is what you see when you are inside it.

Can I belong to more than one organization?

Yes. The same account can be a member of several, and you move between them from the switcher at the top of the sidebar. Each one has its own members, plan and invoices.

Can I change the organization URL later?

Yes, from Settings → General. The old address stops working as soon as the new one is saved, so anyone with a bookmark or an open tab will need the new link.

What happens when an organization is deleted?

It becomes unavailable to everyone straight away, but the data behind it is not purged for another 30 days. The owner is emailed a confirmation and a reminder before the final date.
